There is a new AOAC Official Method 2013.05 for aflatoxin detection in edible oils using Vicam’s AflaTest WB immunoaffinity columns. The results of an interlaboratory study supported acceptance of the method as applicable to the determination of total aflatoxins in olive oil, peanut oil and sesame oil at 2-20μg/kg and AFB₁ in these oils at 1-10μg/kg.
The USDA-GIPSA certification for AflaCheck has been renewed for another 3 years, confirming its capability to reliably detect aflatoxins at a detection threshold of 20ppb total aflatoxins in corn.
Users of Vicam’s Vertu system can now download the results from the reader to a computer. The Vertu system is designed for fast, easy and quantitative mycotoxin analysis using Vicam’s lateral flow strips, for which there are options for aflatoxin, fumonisin and DON testing.
Improvements to procedures have been made to the following Vicam products: Myco6in1+ immunoaffinity columns for multitoxin analysis; DON-V lateral flow strips and FumoniTest for HPLC. All manuals and MSDS can be downloaded from Vicam’s web site or by asking Bio-Check for the most recent copy.
